The Women's Center welcomes and needs the support of dedicated volunteers committed to our mission. We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals interested in volunteering on an ongoing basis or individuals, groups and organizations interested in volunteering for a one-time volunteer project.
Specialized training by our dedicated professional staff will be provided for volunteers and interns interested in volunteering on an ongoing basis. Due to the nature of our work and the confidentiality and safety issues involved, training is critical to ensure that volunteers understand our program and are prepared to answer hotline calls, assist with our residential programs, children enrichment program, community education outreach program and other essential volunteer support assignments.
Interested in volunteering on an ongoing basis? Consider these volunteer opportunities:
Hotline/Front Desk
Offer supportive listening, crisis intervention, safety planning and referral information to individuals calling our 24-hour hotline.
Children's Enrichment Program
Supervise children during daytime group activities, and coordinate games and craft activities for our young residents during the evening and weekends. This volunteer position provides valuable resources for our program and enriches the lives of children affected by domestic violence. Our caring staff and volunteers are positive role models and mentors that our young residents will always remember. You will make a difference in the lives of our children during their stay with us!
Community Education Outreach
Educating the community about the dynamics of violence and prevention are essential to our mission. Volunteers are needed as ambassadors and facilitators at various community events, schools, health fairs and workshops to educate and engage youth and adults in discussions about intimate partner violence and developing healthy relationships. Specialized training and resource materials will be provided.
The Men's Initiative
To support the implementation of a Young Men's Work Program, we need males 18 years and older who are interested in ending intimate partner violence within their community. In addition to this program, volunteers are needed for other community and education outreach projects and fundraising activities.
Maintenance/Housekeeping
Maintaining a clean, safe and pleasant environment for our residents is critical, and we need volunteers to help us. If you enjoy performing a variety of household projects, this could be an ideal volunteer opportunity.
Interested in volunteering for a short-term project? Consider these volunteer opportunities:
Day of Service
If you are a member of a corporation, civic group or school seeking a one-time volunteer project, we have a variety of projects available that will enhance our center and our programs for our residents.
Cell Phone Collection Drive
We collect used/unwanted cell phones from the community and send them to a company that refurbishes or recycles the phones. Once the value of the phones are determined, the company sends a check to the Women's Center which helps support our critical work. Using your network of family, friends, colleagues and neighbors, organize a cell phone collection drive and help us raise the critical funds needed to support our programs and services.
