Carolyn Petreccia

Born and raised in Ossining, New York, Ms. Petreccia graduated from Bryant College and has been a resident of Rhode Island since 1976. In her professional life Ms. Petreccia has been a Real Estate Agent since 1985 and has been the Broker/Owner of the Re/Max Advantage Group in Warwick, RI since 1992.

In 2003 when her colleague, Barbara Lombardi, was brutally murdered by her ex-husband despite having a restraining order against him, Ms. Petreccia co-founded the Friends of Barbara Lombardi (FOBL) group to lobby for stronger domestic violence laws. Ms. Petreccia sites the formation of this group as being a life changing experience not only for her, but also for everyone affected by domestic violence. Ms. Petreccia and the FOBL were instrumental in the recent passage of the Homicide Prevention Bill in Rhode Island, which takes guns out of the hands of people who have a restraining order against them-a bill that could have saved Ms. Lombardi's life. Her efforts with the FOBL were recognized by the National Association of Realtors, which honored her with the 2003 National Good Neighbor Award.

Ms. Petreccia is the proud mother of her three daughters, Marisa, Stephanie and Jennifer. (back to top)
